Solenoid Valves

Some basic information to help you determine which valve you require:
Solenoid Valves require an electrical signal to open or close the valve.

  • Solenoid Valves require an electrical signal to open or close the valve.
  • When the valve is ‘Normally Closed’, the valve requires electrical power to open.
  • When the valve is ‘Normally Open’, the valve requires power to close.

Due to the electrical actuation, Solenoid Valves fall into two categories:

  • Safe Area.
  • Explosive Area.

Body Materials:

  • Brass. Used for general purpose fluids
  • 316 Stainless Steel. Used for corrosive fluids
  • 304 Stainless Steel. Used for corrosive fluids
  • Aluminium. Lightweight material usually found in pneumatic applications
  • Plastic. Cheap body material, but can sometimes be specified for corrosive liquids
  • PTFE. Usually used for very corrosive liquids such as acids

Port sizes:

  • 1/8", 1/4", 13/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", 3", 4", 5", 6", 8", 10", 12"
  • Flanged Ports: 1 1/2", 2", 3", 4", 5", 6", 8", 10", 12"
  • Flanged Classes: PN16, PN25, ANSI 150, ANSI 300
